A 5-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were both victims of hit and runs Saturday and both were transported to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and admitted in critical condition with head trauma, police said.

The boy was hit around 6:45 p.m. while riding his bicycle by a mid-2000s silver Cadillac near 59th Street and Cedar Ave. in West Philadelphia, police said. The car was traveling southbound on 59th Street approaching Cedar with a green light when the driver struck the child, who was riding eastbound on Cedar. The boy rolled off the hood and fell into the street.

The driver is described as a male in his early 20s with braids.

The girl was struck in South Philadelphia around 8 p.m. on Cleveland Street near Snyder. The girl darted out from between two parked cars into traffic when she was hit by a 2013 navy blue Audi SUV.

The driver stopped and picked up the girl, piled her and her mother into the car, and dropped them both off at Methodist Hospital before driving off without leaving any insurance or contact information.

Police searched the area and located the driver's vehicle outside of residence on Gennett Street.
