Boy riding bicycle hurt in collision with MTA bus

An 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle was seriously hurt when he collided with an MTA bus in Brooklyn on Sunday.

Syncire Nickens was at the intersection of Crescent and Weldon streets in Cypress Hills when he was hit by the back of a B13 bus heading northbound about 5:15 p.m., The New York Daily News reports.

The boy was screaming, witnesses told the News. He remained conscious and alert while emergency responders aided him at the scene.

Nickens was transported to New York-Presbyterian Columbia Hospital for traumatic injuries to his rib cage and lower body. He is expected to survive, authorities said.

The bus driver remained at the scene and is not expected to face any criminal charges, the News reports.
