A 17-year-old girl missing since Monday and last seen leaving a Medfield library with an unidentified man has been found safe.

Brittany Thompson was found with a “male person of interest” walking down a road in Coventry, R.I., said Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney during a news conference Thursday morning.

“She is safe. She is unharmed. She is OK,” Meaney said. “Massachusetts and Rhode Island law enforcement officials will continue with the investigation to find out exactly what occurred.”

He said no charges have been filed. He also said it appears from the video that she went with the man voluntarily.

Meaney said media reports led to tips that helped police track down Thompson.

Statepolice issued an alert on Wednesdayto solicit public help in locating Thompson. She was last seen leaving the library Monday afternoon with a man who was caught on surveillance video.

Meaney said he was not sure if the person Thompson was found with was the man featured in a surveillance video leaving the library with her. Meaney said the man she was found with is from Missouri and is older than her.

Thompson’s family was on their way to Rhode Island to reunite with her, Meaney said.
