If Joe Namath says it, then it must be true.

The famed Jets quarterback, who knows a thing or two about bold predictions, said yesterday that the Jets are one of the best teams he’s ever seen — and will emerge victorious over the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.

“They’ve certainly outmanned our Super Bowl team with ability and speed,” he told Newsday in an interview in which he compared the 2010 Jets and the team he led to victory in Super Bowl III in 1969. “You have to feel good about this team. When I look at the physical abilities of the players, there’s no doubt they’re bigger and faster and stronger than we were.”

He attributed his hopes to a win over Pittsburgh by the Jets at home, and, he added, “They’ve made a nice habit of winning games they’re not expected to win.”
