When Diana Valentin recently became concerned with how her grandmother was being treated at a Bronx nursing home, she installed a camera in the elderly patient’s room. What she discovered was shocking.

The video revealed a nurse’s aide physically abusing Valentin’s grandmother in her room at the Gold Crest Care Center, grabbing the woman’s arm and twisting it back, lifting her up and slamming her into the bed, CBS News reported.

Sandra Kerr, 55, has been charged with three counts of willful violation of the public health law and three counts of endangering the welfare of an incompetent of physically disabled person.

Nursing home administrators had told Valentin that her grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s, was injuring herself, but Valentin did not believe it. She has transported her grandmother to another facility.
