A 19-year-old man faces a misdemeanor assault charge after he slapped a European tourist who later died in front of a Bronx bodega on Friday.

Cops said that Brownie Lopez walked into the 48th Precinct station house over the weekend after surveillance video showed him strike Oliver D'orio, an Italian-born tourist who was to fly home to Switzerland on Saturday.

Video showed Lopez and D'Orio in front of Guerrero Deli Grocery Corp. on Washington Avenue in Belmont early Friday. Multiple reports said that D'Orio, 37, was asking customers at the bodega to buy him beer — including Lopez.

After a tense exchange between the two men, D'orio goes off screen, takes off his shirt and again approaches Lopez, who responded by landing a single open-faced strike with his right hand.

D'orio fell back on the ground and never got back up. Police found him on the sidewalk unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma. EMS rushed the man to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was declared dead.
