This film series backdrop is even more spectacular than the movies been shown. The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy announced the 2014 lineup for “Movies With a View“ its outdoor summer movies series today.

This year’s films feature an animal theme and will also showcase the first outside screening of the campy sci-fi flick “Sharknado.” The films will start on July 10 and take place on the Harborview Lawn at Pier 1 with views facing the East River and Manhattan skyline The free weekly series runs through Aug. 28. This is the seventh year that the Conservancy has partnered with the Syfy Channel.

“We are looking forward to audiences being terrified along with Tippi Hendren in ‘The Birds,’ laughing with the Marx Brothers in ‘Duck Soup,’ and heating up with Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman in ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,’ all while soaking in the best views in the city,” said Hilary Tholen, chair of the Conservancy’s volunteer Film Committee.

DJs from Brooklyn Radio will start spinning music at 6 p.m. and the films began at sundown. Short films curated by BAMcinematek will be screened before each of the features.

It's first come, first served on the lawn so make sure and get there early.
