A 36-year-old Bucks County high school softball coach was arrested yesterday and accused of engaging in sexual relations with one of his players — a 16-year-old girl.
Eric Romig, 36, of Quakertown, allegedly had sex with the teen while he coached Pennridge High School last spring and continued that relationship when he started coaching the Sellersville Belles traveling team this fall, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Romig is not a faculty member, the school told the Inquirer, but he has been suspended from coaching.
After seeing a flurry of text messages between the girl and the coach in their daughter's phone records, her parents became suspicious and called police.
According to the Inquirer, the teen said she exchanged explicit videos and text messages with her coach.
The newspaper reported that Romig confessed to several sexual encounters with the teen.
Romig faces child pornography charges, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, the newspaper reported.
