Bucks County native beat to death near West Virginia college

A Bucks County man attending school in West Virginia died after he and a friend were attacked in Wheeling, W. Va., over the weekend.

Kevin M. Figaniak, 21, of Perkasie, died early Sunday at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland, Pa.,the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

The deadly attack happened about 1:45 a.m. Saturday as Figniak, a lacrosse and hockey player at the Jesuit school, and his friend were attacked and beaten by a group of three or four men as they walked back to the small school's campus from a Wheeling bar.

Police described the assailants as white and in their mid-20s.

Figaniak was a graduate of Pennridge High School. He was a senior business major at Wheeling Jesuit.
