Cab driver answers to kidnapping charges

Osei Kwame, accused of taking a Norwood woman on a wild ride last weekend, said she and her male friend tried to skip on the fare and jump out of the cab.

“That’s the truth. I wish the other party would tell the truth, too,” Kwame, 51, of Waltham said yesterday.

Kwame, who is now out of work because his hackney license is suspended, said he put on his emergency lights on his cab to try and find an officer to help give them directions because the pair didn’t know where they were going. He only saw police when they pulled him over on Interstate 93 after the woman called 911.

He said he was pulled over in Wellesley 10 years ago after two women in his cab forgot where they had to go.
