A car chase that included a series of carjackings took police from Newton to Bedfordon Monday.

Donald Hall, 28, of Everett was arrested and now faces multiple charges after leading police through several towns, the Haverhill Police Department announced in a release.

According to a statement by the Haverhill PD, authoritiesbelieve the string of incidents could have started late Sunday night with a carjacking and assault inHaverhill. The suspect is believed to have then driven to Newton, where that vehicle was found abandoned early Monday morning.

Later on Monday, the suspect allegedly knocked on the front door of a home on Lincoln Roadin Newton. After telling the woman he had struck her vehicle, Hall grabbed the keys to an Acura sedan and took off.

When police approached the car in Newton, the suspect drove in an aggressive manner toward the officer, who drew his weapon and shot at the man.

The suspect continued on, hitting a series of vehicles, and ultimately ended up in Billerica where he carjacked another vehicle. He did the same in Concord.

Ultimately, the suspect was slowed by spike strikes in Bedford, and struck a utility pole, bringing an end to the lengthy chase that took police through several Massachusetts towns.

“This dangerous, armed felon clearly showed he was willing to put innocent people in harm’s way. I’m very proud of the quick thinking of my officers in deploying spike strips, which helped bring an end to this incident,” said Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno.

Hall was arrested at the scene of the accident and taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the crash. A firearm was found in the vehicle.
