A sleeping woman was reportedly sexually assaulted on a downtown-bound 4 train early Saturday morning.
A fellow passenger, identified by Gothamist as Jasheem Smiley, recorded video of the incident before attempting to intervene.
He was unable to wake the woman by kicking her foot, but reported that she woke when the assailant attempted to pull her towards him. She then punched the assailant and got off of the train.
He reported the incident to an conductor with the MTA, who referred him
to the NYPD.
According to the MTA, the NYPD is investigating the incident.
Smiley has said that the woman did not appear to be intoxicated.
