A Chelsea man was arrested four years after he allegedly tried to rape a family friend, according to the Suffolk County DA’s office.
Jose Luis Lobo, 26, Chelsea, was arraigned yesterday in court and charged with assault with intent to rape, indecent assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
According to court records, four years ago Lobo allegedly tried to rape a family friend when he brought her back to his apartment in Chelsea in October of 2007.
Lobo’s roommates allegedly thwarted the attack, but the suspect managed to kick the victim as she tried to leave the apartment after she claimed he tried to rape her.
Chelsea Police searched the area for Lobo and obtained a warrant for his arrest in 2007. Despite their efforts, however, he remained at large until Sunday, when officers spotted him drinking in public, according to the DA’s office.
