Worried about how your butt will look in your yoga pants? At New York’s Bold & Naked, you don’t have to wear pants at all. Just bring your birthday suit, and that’s good enough for those sun salutations.

The Chelsea-based yoga studio offers co-ed naked classes. That’s right — yoga in the nude. Bold & Naked was formerly called Le Male Yoga, and taught naked yoga classes for men only. This year, the studio was opened up to women as well.

European owners Joschi Schwarz and Monika Werner told Well + Goodthat they’ve always been forward-thinking. Schwarz said he hopes New Yorkers will see how “cool and freeing and liberating [naked yoga] can really be.”

Schwarz said group nudity is better for yoga practice and for life in general. He told Well + Good, “Being naked has a few factors, and one is to get more confidence and to learn to trust yourself, other people, and the situations and circumstances you’re in. You sit naked in the class and create confidence, and then you go to your next meeting — and of course you’re not naked in the next meeting — but you go with more confidence, that’s a given.”

Those are some bold statements.

For yogis worried about having someone’s junk in their face during downward facing dog, well, you’ll get used to it. “We create this atmosphere where you feel safe and secure, and once you start moving, your mind comes to the mat,” said Schwarz.

And men, don’t worry about getting an erection during class. Schwarz said it’s normal. “If you get a hard-on, and that’s just what’s happening with your body,” he said, “I would say just be happy that your reproductive system works.”
