About 7 p.m. two women attempted to make off with a shopping cart full of stolen items from a Cherry Hill Wegmans Food Market, but ran away when confronted by store employees.
They left behind the cart, which also contained an 8-month-old boy, police said.
Cherry Hill police caught and arrested the two women in the parking lot, and transferred custody of the baby to a family member, according to a news release.
The mother, Kristi Kline, 24, of Wilmington, Del., was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia, shoplifting, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of stolen property. She was sent to Camden County Jail in lieu of bail.
The same charges were filed against Kline's alleged accomplice, Christine Frater, 30, of Carlisle, Pa., but she was released.
