Chinatown bus mows down pedestrians

Two pedestrians were seriously injured when a bus from the Fung Wah bus company in Chinatown plowed over them last night near the entrance to the Manhattan Bridge, according to NYPD reports.

The victims were a 57-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man. The woman was taken to New York Hospital in serious condition, and the man was in serious but stable condition.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Canal and Bowery, in a crosswalk as the pedestrians were attempting to cross the street.

The driver was issued a summons for failing to yield to pedestrians, but no criminal charges are being brought. The incident is considered a traffic violation only.
