City must again cut budget

PHILADELPHIA. Slashes to police overtime, the city’s cultural fund and a subsidy for Community College of Philadelphia are among additional budget cuts announced yesterday by the Nutter administration.

“There are a wide range of cuts to a wide range of departments and everybody’s feeling the pain,” said Finance Director Rob Dubow.

The administration also scaled back previously announced cuts to libraries and the fire department. Libraries will remain open five days a week thanks to tax amnesty receipts, and instead of closing two engines or laddies companies, the city will shutter four or five ladder each day on an alternating basis.
