The Streets Department will be conducting an abandoned bicycle sweep in Center City and outlying areas beginning this summer, according to a release.
The city 311 center will collect information from callers about the whereabouts and descriptions of offending bicycles, defined as those with missing or damaged parts that are in unusable condition and have been locked in the same place for at least a month.
The bikes will then be tagged a week before they are scheduled to be removed to give their owners a chance to claim them.
