Two children, both under the age of 6, were fatally stabbed in an Upper West Side apartment on Thursday, police said.

Their nanny, who was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted kitchen knife wounds remains in critical condition and under arrest.

Police identified the victims as 6-year-old Lucia Krim and 1-year-old Leo Krim, reportedly the children of Kevin Krim, CNBC’s general manager of digital content.

The mother of the children found the bodies when she returned to La Rochelle, a luxury apartment building at 57 West 75th Street, along with another young child, police said. According to reports, a 911 call was placed around 5:30 p.m. The two children were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said in a press conference that the mother's screams were heard by people in the apartment building when she discovered the bodies.
