A female Coatesville police officer shot herself in the leg Saturday after struggling with a driver who hit another vehicle and ran.
Michael Vega, 24, of Coatseville, hit another vehicle and when the driver attempted to exchange information, Vega sped off, nearly clipping the other driver.

The officer gave chase and stopped Vega at S. 3rd Ave and Kersey St, but Vega resisted arrest and a struggle with the officer ensued.
During the scuffle, the officer drew her gun and shot herself in the leg. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
Vega was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, DUI, among others.
