A Concord man appeared in court on Monday on larceny and trespassing charges after he allegedly tried to steal a Red Sox player’s glove from the clubhouse.
Thomas Robbins pleaded not guilty for the incident at Fenway Park early Sunday morning, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office. His bail was set at $300 and he was ordered to stay away from Fenway Park during the case.
A staff member found Robbins inside the Red Sox clubhouse at about 2:30 a.m. and asked what he was doing there. Prosecutors said at that point he dropped a baseball glove belonging to first baseman Mike Napoli and left.
Security and police caught up with Robbins in a players parking lot and found that he had two press box place markers issued by Major League Baseball and the Red Sox public relations department, according to prosecutors. Because of that, authorities believe he was likely in the press box, too.
Robbins was charged with larceny and trespassing.
“It was valued at $450 for purposes of the case, but a perfectly worn mitt is priceless,” said Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley. “We’re glad Mike got it back and won’t have to worry about it tomorrow night.”
