Police shot and wounded a knife-wielding man outside Penn Station Thursday afternoon after he refused to drop the weapon. Johan Stolarz, 69, who was paroled from a federal prison for armed robbery on Wednesday, tried and failed to rob a Chase Bank at 2 Penn Plaza. Police surrounded him at 12:40 p.m. on West 31st Street and one officer shot him in the thigh after he refused repeated demands to drop the weapon, police said. He was in stable condition.
