Police involved in a “violent” struggle with a burglary suspect in Charlestown were aided by a Good Samaritan yesterday.

Responding to a report of men looking into cars with flashlights in the Elm Street area, police saw two men allegedly breaking into a car just before 1 a.m.

When the men spotted police, they fled but the officers were able to corner one suspect, Steven Shea, 42, of Randolph.

“The suspect ... violently fought with officers until they were assisted by a Good Samaritan,” police said.
