Cops arrest man for murder of Menachem Stark, Brooklyn landlord

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in the murder of a Brooklyn landlord four months ago, police said.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in the murder of a Brooklyn landlord four months ago, police said.

Kendel Felix, of Crown Heights, faces a second-degree murder charge for allegedly suffocatingMenachem Stark, police said. Other suspects were questionedin connection with the fatal abduction, according to multiple media reports.

Stark, 39, was last seen on Jan. 2 leaving his office on Rutledge Street in South Williamsburg during a blizzard, police said. Grainy surveillance footage shows him in a struggle with two people before they forced him into a van.

Police were unable to immediately confirm the motive for the killing. The New York Daily News reported that Stark was the victim of a "robbery gone wrong," while sources told DNAinfo New York several men were hired to simply scare him into paying outstanding debts.

Police have said Stark, well-known in Williamsburg's Hasidic community, was plagued by business troubles and mortgage defaults before his death.
