Cops nab escaped prisoner on Upper West Side

Police caught an escaped prisoner this morning who escaped on Saturday.

Upper West Side New Yorkers, breathe easy: Manhattan's Warrant Squad has nabbed a prisoner who escaped mid-arrest on Saturday.

Lawrence Mason, last seen booking it into the subway at the 2/3 stop at West 116th Street and Lenox Avenue around 1:05 p.m., was caught Tuesday morning on the corner of West112 Street and St. Nicholas Avenuein Manhattan, police reported.

Cops said Mason, 52, had wrapped scarves around his wrists to hide broken handcuffs that still remained from his arrest.

Police say Mason has been charged with reckless endangeroment, obstruction of governmental administration, escape, bail-jumping, criminal mischief with intent to damage property, jumping the turnstile at the subway where he escaped and resisting arrest.
