Officers shot and wounded a man who was attacking a female victim in a Bronx building lobby on Sunday morning.
Police said two officers responding to a Brooklyn apartment building saw the suspect, whose name was not released as of Sunday afternoon, attempting to attack a woman with a butcher knife.
Cops arrived to the building on Sedgwick Avenue in the Kingsbridge Heights section at around 3:51 a.m. to find the 34-year-old suspect exit the stairwell and chase after the victim with the blade.
Authorities at the scene said they ordered the man to drop the knife, which he refused to do as he continued to pursue the 32-year-old woman.
That's when the officers drew their guns, each firing their weapon at the man once in the torso.
Both the suspect and victim were rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital. The woman was in stable condition as of Sunday, as was the assailant who remains in police custody.
Investigators recovered the blood-covered 8-inch blade between the second floor landing and the lobby.
Both officers were treated for tinnitus at NewYork-Presbyterian' the Allen Hospital.
