Dressed for distress: Costumed volunteers stage evacuation at Salem MBTA Station

About 120 volunteers donned Halloween costumes Sunday at the Salem commuter rail MBTA station to prepare first responders for an emergency during the height of the community's tourism season – Halloween.

About 120 volunteers donned Halloween costumes Sunday at the Salem commuter rail MBTA station to prepare first responders for an emergency during the height of the community's tourism season – Halloween.

 

MBTA personnel as well as Salem police and fire officials practiced treating injuries, emergency communication, investigation and triage, according to a spokeswoman for MassDOT.

 

The drill was required by the required by the Federal Transit Administration, although the costumes were not.
