Couple killed as 4-year-old sleeps

The daughter of a retired Boston Police detective was fatally shot along with her boyfriend in their Hyde Park home early yesterday morning as her 4-year-old son slept in a nearby room.

Police responded to 957 Hyde Park Ave. just after 12:40 a.m. for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, they found the 24-year-old woman and her boyfriend, who was in his 30s, dead from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Commissioner Ed Davis told the Globe that the murder was drug-related.

The woman, Billie Kee, was the daughter of retired detective William Kee, according to television

reports.

From the shooting scene last night, Kee recalled how his daughter was born prematurely at Boston City Hospital.

“I remember as I worked as a detective out of headquarters I would go there and rock her in a chair. I can’t believe that 24 years later, it’s the end of my daughter’s life,” Kee said to NECN while at the scene.

Officers found the boy asleep and unharmed in the apartment.
