A savvy bicycle owner who had his wheels stolen recently spotted them on Craigslist and led police to the man suspected of stealing bicycles downtown over the past month.
Police have been monitoring the bike thefts in the Beacon Hill and Boston Common area after a series of recent incidents.
One victim told police he believed he spotted his bike being advertised for sale on Craigslist after it was stolen. Detectives called the man attempting to sell the stolen bike and set up a meeting with him on Friday.
Police were able to confirm the man was trying to sell the stolen bike and arrested Matthew Berry, 30, of Somerville.
