A former Newton teacher already in hot water for child pornography and sexual assault was arraigned yesterday on separate sex charges in connection with the alleged abuse of a young girl he was babysitting.
David Ettlinger, 34, of Brighton, pleaded not guilty in Middlesex Superior Court on charges of aggravated indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, posing a child in a state of nudity, posting a child in sexual conduct, possession of child pornography and secretly recording a partially nude person, according to the Middlesex district attorney’s office.
While searching Ettlinger’s home in January, authorities found on his computer videos and images of Ettlinger sexually assaulting the girl, who he was hired to babysit. The girl was not one of his students, according to authorities.
Ettlinger was recently listed as a potential caregiver on the popular Sittercity.com website. It is unclear if the girl’s parents were introduced to him through the site. Ettlinger was immediately removed from Sittercity.com and all parents who had contact with him were notified, according to a statement from the company.
Ettlinger has no previous record and in 2011 cleared a background check done by Newton schools.
The same computer helped investigators link Ettlinger to hundreds of child pornography files and images of him assaulting another girl, according to authorities. He was arraigned on those charges last month and held on bail.
Yesterday, Ettlinger was held on $50,000 cash bail and ordered to stay away from the victim and any other child under 16.
His attorney did not return a call to comment.
Coach accused of enticing boy online
A Woburn Little League coach pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges he enticed a 13-year-old Arizona boy to perform sexual acts on Skype for him to watch.
Raymond McAllister, 20, of Woburn, was arraigned in Woburn District Court on charges of dissemination of matter harmful to a minor, enticement of a child, and posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, according to the Middlesex district attorney’s office. He was held on $10,000 cash bail and ordered to stay on 24-hour house arrest with no Internet use if he makes bail.
McAllister is a coach for 12-14 year old boys and also volunteers at a Bible camp.
