Summer vacation might be drawing to a close, but the de Blasio kids will spend the last few weeks of their breaks in City Hall as its newest unpaid interns.
First lady Chirlane McCray took to her Tumblr on Thursday to announce both Chiara, 19, and Dante, 16, are spending their last few weeks of summer as interns for two of the administration's offices.
Chiara, a sophomore at a California college, will work with the Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence. An entering high school senior, Dante will work with the First Deputy Mayor’s Office before his final year at Brooklyn Technical High School.
Internships through the mayor's office are also typically unpaid, but geared towards college and graduate students.
"Both internships are fantastic opportunities for Chiara and Dante to give back and grow through service," McCray wrote in her blog post titled "Chiara and Dante give back."
"Bill and I are looking forward to a month of spirited conversations about what we can do as a family to help create an even better New York," she added.
According to the mayor's office, de Blasio secured waivers from the city's Conflict of Interest Board to prove the teens were qualified for the short-term gigs.
The summer won't have been all work for either teen, though.
Chiara and Dante painted themselves blue to preside over this year's Mermaid Parade on Coney Island as Queen Mermaid and King Neptune.
