Mayor Bill de Blasio named his picks to head Small Business Services and the Health and Hospitals Corporation Tuesday.
Maria Torres-Springer was named Commissioner of the Department of Small Business Services. She was most recently the executive vice president and chief of staff at the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
Dr. Ramanathan Raju was chosen as President of HHC. He is currently the CEO of Chicago's Cook County Health and Hospital System.
"We sought out progressive, proven leaders who are committed to serving diverse communities across this city. And in Maria and Raju, we found them," de Blasio said in a statement on the appointments.
