De Blasio releases TV ad recalling primary election victory speech

Bill de Blasio released a new TV ad urging voters to remember his Primary Night victory.

Bill de Blasio released a new TV ad Thursday, following a Joe Lhota ad release Wednesday.

The de Blasio ad is a standalone 30-second clip from his primary election victory speech, without any music or voiceover.

It concludes with a silent call for support as the words "Join the Cause: BilldeBlasio.com" and the @deBlasioNYC Twitter account fade in on the screen.

The campaign sent out the ad with a reminder from campaign manager Bill Hyers that "Big ideas are worth it," and a fundraising call to "make sure you're doing everything you can to bring home one more win on Nov. 5."

"Remember what primary night felt like?" Hyers asks in an email. "Feeling exhausted from all we'd done to get out the vote, but fired up watching the returns come in and hearing our guy remind us why we need to keep fighting for bold, progressive change.

"This new TV spot goes up on the air today," the email continues. "It will remind you of how far we've come, and why there's too much at stake to let up now."

With the election about a month away, a new Quinnipiac poll has de Blasio leading Lhota by a margin of 50 points.
