Yesterday at 11:59 p.m. was the deadline for thousands of Ground Zero workers to decide if they wanted to join a proposed $712 million settlement from New York City, to settle health claims related to 9/11 cleanup.
Lawyers need 95 percent of the more than 10,000 plaintiffs to accept the settlement in order for it to take effect.
It is not yet known whether that percentage had been reached. An official count of how many plaintiffs signed on for the settlement will be released this week.
