For the 11th time, a 77-year-old Delaware man was arrested for driving under the influence, authorities said.
Ruppert Bell Jr., of Bridgeville, was pulled over about 6:30 p.m. on Hastings Farm Road in his hometown Saturday after he was driving above the speed limit and swerving in and out of his lane, Delaware State Police said.
He was taken into custody after he failed a DUI test, state police said.
A computer check revealed Bell had 10 prior convictions of driving under the influence. He was first charged with DUI on Jan. 15, 1987. His last conviction was in 2005, records show.
He was charged with driving while impaired, driving while license suspended or revoked, and failure to remain in a single lane.
He was sent to Sussex Correctional in lieu of a $16,000 cash bond.
