Deli closed by 3-alarm blaze

An Andrew Square deli was severely damaged by a three-alarm fire that broke out just before 1 p.m. yesterday.

The fire at Boston Street Deli & Market started in the basement but a cause was not clear, officials said.

Much of the deli’s merchandise was destroyed or damaged and officials said it would be possibly months before it could reopen. There was smoke and water damage throughout the building.

Everyone made it out of the three-story building. Three people who lived in apartments on the second and third floors were displaced.

One firefighter was treated for minor burns to his ears.
