Delivery biker reaches tipping point

Greenpoint resident Larry Fox can handle carrying four bags of food by bike, getting paid with rolls of coins and even stomach $50 for an 11-hour shift.

But a $3 tip on an $89 order was too much.

And so Fox, 20, a graphic designer and part-time delivery biker for Urban Rustic sandwich shop, launched 15 Percent in April, a Tumblr blog that tracks terrible tips.

The site includes photographic proof of a $2 tip on a $74.60 order and $3 tacked onto an $89 bill. The latter, Fox said, was for a delivery to the wardrobe department of the CBS show “The Good Wife,” in Greenpoint.

CBS, along with Vice magazine in Williamsburg, are regular perpetrators of big orders and tiny tips, he said.

Neither CBS nor Vice returned Metro’s calls or e-mails for comment about their alleged cheapness.

Tumblr asked him to remove customers’ addresses Saturday, and Fox told Metro yesterday he will now only shame by first name and street.

The blog started as a “collection of kind of the worst tips” from his deliveries in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. While many tips Fox gets are decent, the site is to “shame only the worst.”

So who are the best tippers?

“Younger people who tend to work in the service industry,” he said. “People who are hungover in the morning tip really well.”
