A day after former Republican Gov. Mitt Romney launched an exploratory committee to run for president, state Democrats celebrated the fifth anniversary of Massachusetts’ health reform with a cake reading, “MA Healthcare, A Model for the Nation. Thank You, Mitt.”

“There’s no question his effort as our governor made this possible,” Massachusetts Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh said. “We are a little perplexed by his shifting relationship with the law he claimed to author.”

Walsh also showed off a clip video of Romney sound bites in support of state health reform, which can be viewed below.

Romney has stood behind the reform plan he helped author, but has criticized Gov. Deval Patrick’s implementation of the law.
