Dog delays flights after running onto LaGuardia runway

This pooch wanted to be Air Bud!

A dog briefly held up departures at LaGuardia Airport this morning after it ran out onto the runway.

The 30-pound puppy, a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Byrdie, somehow escaped from its cage as it was being loaded onto a Delta flight bound for Memphis.

Port Authority workers chased the dog down Runway 31, but were unable to cajole the dog to come back. At one point the dog even laid down on the tarmac.

The only way they were able to get Byrdie back was to bring the owner off the plane. As soon as Brydie saw her, she trotted right over.

Brydie only shut down plane traffic for about 10 minutes, from about 10:21 a.m. to 10:31 a.m. She was put back on the plane and her flight took off for Memphis 20 minutes later.
