Dog violently attacks miniature horses on Martha's Vineyard, kills one
An English bulldog has been quarantined after it violently attacked one miniature horse and killed another on Martha's Vineyard.
An English bulldog named Mugsy killed one miniature horse and injured another during a violent attack in which the dog "ripped half the face off" one of the horses.
The attack happened Saturday on Martha's Vineyard, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Mugsy apparently jumped a 4-foot-high fence and went right for the horse's jugular, an Edgartown animal control officer said Sunday.
"He ripped the jugular out and ripped half the face off," Barbara Prada told the Times. The other horse had puncture wounds to its face.
Mugsy is now on a 10-day quarantine at the town pound. If the owner of the horses files a dangerous animal complaint, the Board of Selectmen would then have to decide what to do with the dog.
