Driver hit, killed in Boston tunnel

A man was killed after exiting his car when it broke down in the Thomas P. O’Neill tunnel on Interstate 93 early Thursday morning.

According to State Police, at around 8:10 a.m., the operator of the disabled vehicle pulled over to the right of the tunnel on the southbound side of the highway near exit 20.

As the victim exited his car and was standing in the travel lane, he was struck by another car.

According to reports, Boston EMS and the Boston Fire Department responded to the accident to provide medical treatment.

The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released the identity of the victim.
