A dump truck traveling on Interstate 93 in Dorchester overturned and landed in the water Tuesday morning, creating major delays along the Southeast Expressway.

The crash occurred just after 10 a.m. near the Dorchester Yacht Club, state police and the Boston fire department said. The driver apparently lost control, went through the I-93 northbound guardrail and landed his vehicle on its side in the water.

The driver suffered a minor injury.

State transportation and environmental crews also responded to the scene. The truck leaked about 50 gallons of fuel, the fire department said.

Heavy-duty tow trucks were being brought in to get the truck out of the water.

Police closed the two right lanes of I-93 during the crash and recovery, causing major delays along the roadway.

It was not immediately clear what caused the truck to crash. It was hauling gravel.
