A young man and woman are wanted by police after surveillance videos show the couple stealing from the Macy's store in the Square One Mall in Saugus after closing.

WickedLocal reports that responding officers reviewed security footage that showed the duo exiting the store with a large shopping bag around 11 p.m. the previous day. Police concluded the pair apparently hid in the store until closing, as there were no signs of forced entry and no entrance alarm activated.

The thieves wore hooded sweatshirts and gloves, according to police. Because it was completely dark inside the store, police were unable to detect what items were stolen or where the thieves hid as the store closed.

If apprehended the suspects could face charges of larceny, breaking and entering, and trespassing, Saugus Police Assistant Chief Ronald Giorgetti told WickedLocal.

“It has happened at some businesses in Saugus and elsewhere where people stay inside after closing and commit larceny and other acts,” Giorgetti said.
