Authorities want to track down a man suspected of breaking into a East Harlem apartment last week in an attempt to rape a woman in her own bed.
Cops released a sketch of the man thought to have been waiting to catch the 59-year-old woman off guard as hid in her apartment on East 106th Street.
The woman woke up at around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 1 to find the man in her apartment. The two struggled, with the suspect grabbing at the victim's ankle to pull her pajama pants down.
She screamed, convincing the suspect to flee by running out an open window in the woman's living room.
Investigators said the suspect is described as a heavy-set, light-skinned Hispanic male at 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds.
He is thought to be approximately 25 years old with short black hair, last seen wearing khaki pants and a similar colored T-shirt.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or to submit tips online.
