The trio of Emerson College students behind the now-popular phrase “Boston Strong” is being hailed by celebrities for their work raising money for survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings.
MTV teamed with Robin Thicke, Ed Sheeran, 2 Chainz, and Fall Out Boy this week to thank the three Emerson students – Nick Reynolds, Chris Dobens and Lane Brenner – who started the Boston Strong t-shirt campaign and raised nearly $1 million for The One Fund.
On Tuesday, mtvU cameras crashed the Emerson campus to surprise the students with a video message of thanks from the celebs and deliver tickets to the upcoming “2013 MTV Video Music Awards.”
“It’s all part of our “Random Acts of mtvU: VMA Edition” campaign in which we celebrate extraordinary college students across the country,” said MTV Spokesman Jake Urbanski said in an email.
“The segment in which we surprise the Emerson students airs August 19 on mtvU and mtvU.com. We’ll be doing more throughout next week,” he said.
Random Acts of MTVU will air the Boston Strong segments this Sunday, August 18, throughout the entire day on MTVU, between 4 p.m. and 5 pm on MTV, and between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. pm on MTV2.
