Emotional start to murder trial

Opening arguments in the capital murder trial of city police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski began yesterday with the all emotions that come from hearing an officer’s last words played in court.

His daughter ran from the courtroom seating area in tears around the time when audio played of Liczbinski’s final exchange with dispatch, according to reports, during the May 2008 chase that ended in his death along a residential street in Port Richmond.

The prosecutor argued yesterday that the two accused of Liczbinski’s murder, Eric Floyd and Levon Warner, did not pull the trigger of the assault rifle that killed the cop but that they allegedly had the same intentions as their alleged accomplice who did.
