Jason Green, one of the FDNY EMTs accused of ignoring a pregnant woman while she was dying in Brooklyn last year, was fatally shot near a Soho nightclub just after 5 a.m. yesterday.
Police found Green, 32, at the corner of Vandam and Hudson streets. Green and a friend had been turned away from the nearby Greenhouse club when they reportedly got into a dispute with a man in a car who opened fire.
Green was shot twice and pronounced dead on arrival at New York Downtown Hospital.
On Dec. 9, Green and another EMT, Melisa Jackson, were on break near FDNY headquarters when they allegedly ignored pleas to help Au Bon Pain worker Eutisha Rennix who was suffering abdominal pain, and instead told others to call 911. Rennix died a short time later.
The FDNY suspended Green and Jackson for 30 days for neglect of duty. The suspension ended on Jan. 21, but public backlash and an inquiry by the King’s County district attorney’s office were ongoing.
The NYPD is investigating Green’s death but had no suspects last night.
