Etan Patz: F.B.I. investigates cold-case tip in SoHo

F.B.I. agents are at a Soho apartment building today, reportedly after receiving a new tip in the decades-old case of Etan Patz.

Patz, 6, went missing in 1979 on his two-block walk to the school bus stop.

The New York Times reports that officers with jackhammers and pickaxes arrived at the Prince Street apartment.

Patz lived at 113 Prince Street, about a block away from where the agents were investigating.

Officials would say only that they were following a tip.

District Attorney Cyrus Vance reopened the cold case in 2010.

Authorities previously identified a suspect, Jose Ramos, who knew the boy’s baby sitter. Ramos denied abducting or killing him.

Patz was the first face of a missing child to appear on a milk carton.
