A state ethics committee investigation has found that Assemblyman Micah Kellner from the Upper East Side sexually harassed staff members in 2009 and 2011.
The probe began in July of this year following allegations that he harassed a female staffer.
The Assembly Ethics and Guidance Committee sent a letter to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver on Monday, which stated that Kellner made comments to staff members that “created a hostile work environment.”
The committee recommended that Kellner be stripped of his position as chairman of the Committee on Libraries and Education Technology, that he be prohibited from having interns in his office and that he attend sexual harassment training.
Silver acted on the committee’s recommendations on Monday and also said Kellner would not be able to hire any new staff members.
“I hope these actions will send a loud and clear message that we will not tolerate this type of behavior and that sexual harassment has no place in the Assembly,” Silver said.
Kellner has not released any comment.
