Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria is accused of sexually harassing at least four women in the last decade, including a city employee who resigned after the politician allegedly asked her for oral sex in 2012, according to an investigativereportby The Boston Globe.
Another woman, the mother of a soldier serving in Iraq, claimed DeMaria groped her when she went to his office in 2008 to ask for help starting a program assisting military families, the Globe reported.
The two other accusers are employees at doughnut shops owned by DeMaria, the report claims.
No charges have been filed, and DeMaria denied the claim in a statement published on NECN that states: “
“I will continue to work tirelessly for the people of Everett as I have for the past twenty years and refuse to waste any more time and energy on useless distractions based upon patent untruths. I have faith that the people of Everett will see through this clear attempt to destroy the hard work and strong community we have created and continue to band together for the best Everett.”
DeMaria has been married to his wife Stacy for 18 years.
On Aug. 11, DeMaria posted a photograph of his wife on Facebook with the message, “Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife, Stacy! I am so blessed to have you in my life. Thank you for all that you do for me and our family. You are an amazing woman, a wonderful mother, and my very best friend. I love you always.”
